How To Apply To Claim UIF Illness Benefits

If you fall ill and are laid off for unconfirmed reasons, you, the employee, are entitled to some benefits. However, these benefits are regulated and checked so that people who are now allowed to claim them do not get in the way.

UIF and its stakeholders have put measures in place to protect the government purse and also support all individuals who qualify for UIF illness benefits.

It is important to note that although the UIF illness benefits may help you, it is a temporal solution meant to support you.

Illness benefits can be claimed by any South African or citizen who is able to provide enough evidence of their circumstance.

As much as you may have contributed to UIF, the amount designed for illness benefits will correspond to the UIF policy for claims.

Once you get this right, you can enjoy the illness benefits for the period UIF gives.

However, UIF has communicated that for individuals who wish to know the length of the illness benefit payment. The organization stated categorically that individuals who fall into this situation can enjoy this benefit for a period of 238 consecutive days. This means your benefits will be sent to you as and when it is expected to get to your account.

Once you have been certified as ill and can not work, you are allowed to submit your claims and enjoy your illness benefits for as long as 8 months continuously.
