The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) bursary is meant for disadvantaged South African students intending to pursue their studies at public universities or TVET colleges. Central Johannesburg TVET College

Ekurhuleni East TVET College

Ekurhuleni West TVET College
Ekurhuleni West TVET College offers vocational education and training, and it is located in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, Gauteng Province. It also operates six campuses namely: Germiston, Alberton, Boksburg, Kathorus, Kempton, and Tembisa.
Sedibeng TVET College
Sedibeng TVET College offers a National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at all college campuses. Heidelberg, Vanderbijlpark, and Sebokeng campuses offer Business Studies as semester courses. Vereeniging and Sebokeng offer Engineering Studies as trimester courses, while Skills and Artisan courses are available at all college campuses upon request.
South West Gauteng TVET College
South West Gauteng TVET College is accredited by Umalusi and Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETA) to provide education and training. It is one of the biggest colleges in South Africa, with an enrolment of 30 000. Its head office is at Molapo Campus, Soweto. It has three campuses in Soweto, two in Roodepoort, and one in Randburg. It also offers distance learning and e-learning. Students who have completed the Level 4 NC (V) can proceed to Higher Education at universities or universities of technology.
Tshwane North TVET College

Does NSFAS Pay Private Colleges?
NSFAS only funds public TVET colleges, excluding private colleges. NSFAS mainly targets students from families with low income who cannot afford to study at private colleges, which are generally more expensive than public institutions. If you want to apply for NSFAS funding, your combined household income should not exceed R350 000 or R600 000 for disabled students.
Which TVET Does NSFAS Fund?
The NSFAS bursary covers various courses. Prospective students who need to study at TVET colleges should know the colleges that are funded by NSFAS in their respective provinces. NSFAS only pays for the first qualification, and it does not fund postgraduate courses. The financial aid scheme also covers online courses offered through a public TVET college.

Which Courses Will NSFAS Stop Funding?
NSFAS has stopped funding some courses, which include BTECH, nursing, teaching, and other degrees. Bachelor of Nursing Science (BCur) and Bachelor of Education (B Ed) for first-time students are no longer funded by NSFAS. Any qualification that includes the word national in its title will no longer be funded by NSFAS. Additionally, NSFAS has stopped funding all bridging programs, legacy NQF Level 8 qualifications, and Legacy two-year diplomas.
NSFAS funds 50 TVET colleges and 26 public universities in South Africa. Gauteng province has 10 TVET colleges funded by NSFAS, and these exclude private colleges. However, NSFAS no longer funds other programs. You should check the prospectus of each TVET college before applying for a particular course to check whether it is available or not.
