When it comes to academics, almost every student would want to have a distinction. Having a distinction could give you much bigger opportunities and puts you in a place of priority. 

In the matric exams, there are different grading levels which also reflect your overall performance of your matric results. 

Having a distinction in matric can be an exciting part of your academic journey. The matric grading starts from 0 to 100, with an alphabetical representation determining the level of performance. 

Matric distinction is considered to be having the highest pegged score in your matric exams. There is a point in the matric score that is considered a distinction. For example, a score of 100% and 99% may have a difference, but both are seen as a distinction. To achieve a distinction in matric, you must score 80% or above. This pass is really helpful in increasing your chances of getting into university.

How many points is a bachelor pass?

In many educational systems, a bachelor’s pass is the minimum requirement needed to earn a bachelor’s degree. 

 To be eligible for a Bachelor’s Pass, you must earn an Admission Point Score (APS) of 23 or above. The APS, also known as the Academic Performance Score, is a numerical value that universities and colleges in South Africa use to evaluate the academic performance of potential students.

The final matric exams consider the scores achieved in specific subjects.
