You may have submitted your NSFAS application, gotten the approval, and later received your funds. But the thought of failing in your modules just came to mind. One of the things that may strike students or applicants is the thought of failing. The fear of failing a module

can make you question your NSFAS funding.

The whole point is to ensure you do not lose your funding; thus, you start to think about how to pass your modules. It is not bad to think this way since you are concerned about your funding. While you stay optimistic, you may also wonder about the modules and NSFAS funding. If that is so, then this article is for you to know the options and what NSFAS expects from its applicants regarding failing a module.

How Many Modules Can You Fail With NSFAS?

The number of modules to fail while getting funds from NSFAS does not necessarily correlate with NSFAS revoking your application. The essential part of NSFAS and the failing of modules has to do with the academic requirement. NSFAS will still keep funding you if you fail some modules, but the academic requirements must be met.

According to the NSFAS regulation and policy, students must meet the 50% mark in passing the modules. The least NSFAS expects students to do is to meet the academic performance benchmark, including passing 50% of their module while in the institution.

Will NSFAS fund me if I fail 3 modules out of 5?

The number of failures relating to the modules is about meeting a certain mark. It does not mean NSFAS can not revoke your funding. NSFAS always encourages students to put in the effort. But we know not all can bring out an outstanding performance.

As a humanitarian institution like NSFAS, they have created a simple policy regarding academic performance that can push all students to receive their funding. The benchmark in the academic performance for keeping your funds is not made to stop students from receiving their funds from NSFAS. You should know that NSFAS will continue to fund you if you fail 3 out of 5 modules.

But remember failing the 3 modules clearly relates to getting at least 50% of your module. This means even if you fail your 3 modules, you can not afford to be below the 50% expectation.

Will NSFAS Fund Me If I Fail 3 Modules?

The national student financial aid scheme is not concerned about excelling or failing. Its policy surrounds academic work and performance. The core objective of NSFAS is to fund students to complete their tertiary and not create barriers that will hinder students from passing.

NSFAS will fund you even if you fail 3 modules. You need to understand that the NSFAS requirement

is not subjected to failing 3 modules. If you are a student and you have failed 3 modules, just know NSFAS will continue to fund you. The key factor is to meet their required mark on the overall modules.

Will NSFAS Continue To Fund Me If I Fail All My Modules?

This question has always been a worry for many applicants who have failed some of their modules. It is okay to consider these thoughts but remember the NSFAS requirements still hold. Failing all your modules means you did not meet the 50% pass mark. Once you fail all your modules, it is obvious that you can not meet the pass mark, resulting in NSFAS revoking your funds. NSFAS will not continue to fund you once you fail all your modules.

How many modules must you pass for NSFAS?

The number of modules that must be passed for NSFAS clearly relates to the total pass mark. Supposing you failed 4 out of 12 registered modules but still met the 50% total score, then your funding is assured. The number of modules to pass for NSFAS depends on your total score.

There is no definite number but supposing you have 12 registered modules, and you fail 8 out of that 12; then it states you are approaching the failure mark. In such cases, you can put your funding at high risk. NSFAS has not stated the number of modules to pass in order to receive funds. The clear communicated requirement is to ensure you pass 50% of the aggregate score of your total modules.

How many times does NSFAS allow you to fail?

If you must know best NSFAS is not interested in your overall academic performance. The concern of NSFAS is meeting their requirements academically and in documentation to receive funds. NSFAS does not allow you to fail. And to categorically state, NSFAS has no interest in your failure while in tertiary.

The main objective of NSFAS is to assist students financially until they are done with tertiary. There is no link between NSFAS funding you and also allowing you to fail. You passed to study in tertiary by yourself, so you must study to pass. Do not think NSFAS is interested in failing you or has some links with the academic office in your institution. The NSFAS does not indulge itself in such matters.

Will NSFAS Still Fund Me If I Fail To Pass 50% Of My Modules?

This is one of the most asked questions among students in the tertiary. The question persists among new NSFAS applicants or students who are trailing and also concerned about their funds. Certainly, NSFAS will stop funding you if you fail to pass 50% of your modules, and this is according to their academic policy.
