NSFAS Application Evaluation – Process and steps explained

In all aspects of the application, there is a progress check and methods to always know. The NSFAS application goes through a series of processes, an internal system designed to ensure all sections of the application are well-checked before approval.

As a reputable organization, it is vital for them to be well organized and informative in their administration and operational activities. Understanding each of their statuses will help you plan ahead when applying for NSFAS. Mostly for first applicants, it becomes a major problem to know the status meanings and what to do. But this article will shed some light on the status and its meanings.

Application Submitted

This is, in some other ways, self-explanatory. Application submitted clearly means the application you submitted online has been accepted by the system. The submission part of the NSFAS application is usually part of the early stages of the whole application process.

Filtering

This status means your level as a student applying for NSFAS. The system does an internal check to know if you are a fresh or continuing student. Also, it crosses-check if you have other qualifications prior to applying to NSFAS.

Validation

This status demonstrates or supports the real value of the applicants and the application. In other ways, it provides validation of whether all is legal. At this point, NSFAS gets to know how true your details might be. This type of check is done with third-party organizations such as the Department of home affairs and the South African Social security agency. It confirms your true identity and other things like your income.

Evaluation

This status is the assessment point of the application. This is one of the most vital moments due to the scam or impersonation that may arise. NSFAS goes through your application to verify all the documents you submitted to pass judgment on whether they are indeed real or false.

Funding Eligibility

During this status, your financial status is assessed. Although NSFAS provides financial support to tertiary students, they do another background on all applicants to confirm if they qualify for the funding. The NSFAS expects that all applicants must have a household income of not less than R370000 per annum. And this process stamps and identifies you to be in the appropriate status to receive funds from NSFAS.

Awaiting Academic Results or Admission

As part of the requirements from NSFAS, they must check your admission status, including the results before admission and while you are in the institution. NSFAs contacts all tertiary institutions to make a request for the academic results and details of all applicants. The national student financial aid scheme double checks to confirm your admission and also receive credible information about your results.

Awaiting Registration

This step usually takes a while because of the creation of agreement documents. The awaiting registration status indicates NSFAS has to build rapport and partnership with the institution you will be studying. At this point, your institution must submit its details for NSFAS to create an internal bursary agreement in order to process your funds.

Signing Of Agreement

Every agreement must have a clear understanding and signature to confirm that an operation has or will be initiated. At this point, applicants need to sign the agreement seen on their application to accept the terms and conditions of NSFAS. And this agreement is not only between you and NSFAS but also the institution you will be studying at.

Payment

Possibly a satisfying moment for all applicants. NSFAS accepts and pays all your allowances into your NSFAS wallet or to your institution for later reimbursement. This is the status where NSFAS has accepted, evaluated, and cross-checked all other things and deemed your application as viable and true.
