The matriculation exam, which is commonly known as the matric exam, is a standard exam set by the Department of Education to assess final-year students in high school. This looks at the overall knowledge of students who may usually be in grade 12. However, there are cases where students below grade 12 can take this matric exam.

The matric exams serve as an integral part of students understanding of the various subjects taught in school. Some of these subjects include mathematics, English, social studies, history, and other language subjects.

Taking matric twice is considered as the matric rewrite. Rewriting your matric again is just an example of taking the matric exams twice. Although matric rewrites could be more than 2, the question surrounding this is the possibility of doing matric twice.

There are instances where students fail their matric exams or do not get the desired results and wish to know if there is a possibility of writing the matric twice.

In this blog post, we will take you through the possibility of doing the matric twice, how you can re-do the matric, subject change in the matric rewrite, and other related concepts.

Can You Write Matric Twice?

In certain education systems, it is common for students to have the chance to take matric exams twice, which is often called “matric rewrite.” This allows them the opportunity to enhance their scores. The initial attempt gives students the opportunity to assess how prepared they are and pinpoint areas that require improvement. By taking an informed approach, their learning experience is enhanced as it specifically focuses on their weak points. The second attempt allows you to improve your grades, potentially leading to better educational and career prospects. The main goal of the dual matric system is to encourage academic development, help students improve their self-assessment abilities, and ultimately enhance their overall educational achievements.

The answer to “Can I do matric twice?” is absolutely yes. You can simply do your matric again if you failed or completely could not pass the exams. This will allow you to get into tertiary and increase your overall opportunities.

How Do I Re-do My Matric?

To rewrite your matric, you can apply for a Matric rewrite at an accredited institution. You have the option to pursue matriculation through various colleges or institutions that specialize in assisting individuals with rewriting their matric exams.

During this process, you will be allowed to rewrite your Matric final examination. The outcome of this exam will determine the number of marks you will receive to pass matric.

The school will make sure you have all the resources necessary for the exam. This is done to ensure you can study effectively and achieve the highest grades possible.

Preparing for your matric exams involves more than just studying your books; it also requires reviewing past questions.

When it comes to re-doing your matric, it involves thoroughly preparing yourself to retake your matric exams and having the goal of successfully passing them. Doing multiple matric rewrites can be quite tedious and not very enjoyable. However, the ultimate objective is to pass without compromising your chances of getting into tertiary education.

Is Repeating Matric The Same As Upgrading Matric?

There is a big difference between repeating a matric and upgrading a matric. Although the underlined keyword is matric exams, these two phrases mean different things.

Essentially, it points out to students taking their matric exams again but with a different approach. The core objects of the matric upgrade and repeating matric are all about getting better results, but there is a clear difference between these two. Also, there are some restrictions between these two and different requirements.

The concept of repeating matric is about taking all your matric again. When we look at how the matric exam is prepared in Grade 12, it is the first initiation of students having to take external exams that directly influence their chances of securing a tertiary admission. Repeating matric consists of registering all your subjects, attending classes, taking the necessary tests, and taking your final matric exams. This is normally done to help students who could not pass their matric exams.

On the other hand, upgrading matric simply means taking the necessary subjects you wish to better your results. Upgrade matric has so many limitations as this gives students the opportunity to get better grades by retaking some subjects. When you go for an upgrade matric, it sends the notion that you are not comfortable with your matric results and wish to do better.
